Situated about 20 minutes away from Villa Godahena in the coastal town of Ambalangoda, we reached Villa Gangananda and were immediately blown away by the incredible architecture. The villa is a hidden treasure located on the Madampe Lake and tucked away from the busy roads. As you walk through the villa, the high ceilings, ancient Sri Lankan artifacts and large and spacious rooms truly take your breath away. In all the common sitting areas, you’ll have incredible views of the infinity pool and lake, which will make you never want to leave! The villa has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a full functioning kitchen. Similar to Villa Godahena, we loved all the intricate details throughout the villa especially the photographs showcasing Sri Lankan culture and history.

Gangananda is perfect for those looking for a little bit of elegance and luxury. We spent our time relaxing by the pool and taking in the serene views of the lake, which is the perfect area to read that book you have been wanting to start or simply sunbathe and cool off in the pool. The staff really made our stay more enjoyable with their friendly charm and willingness to help with any requests. During our stay, the villa manager also recommended attending a local festival called ‘Perahera’ and we were delighted to be able to see and join the community for this annual celebration.

Throughout our time at Villa Gangananda, we had delicious meals, which similar to Villa Godahena, were prepared by the villa’s personal chef. Having this option really elevates your stay as you there is no need to find a good restaurant or take a ride to town. We enjoyed all of our meals and spent most of our evenings in the glass enclosed seating areas.

The combination of modern design and Sri Lankan history makes Villa Gangananda truly special.  We would highly recommend anyone visiting Sri Lanka to enjoy this stunning villa. It is only two hours away from the Colombo airport and it’s close enough to visit tourist destinations like Hikkaduwa Beach and Galle Fort. The villa is the perfect residence for families as well as a group of friends traveling together!

From the amazing landscape, the attention to detail in every room, the friendliest staff and the delicious meals, you will be in paradise! We were so sad when we had to head off to our next destination but we had such a wonderful stay. We are extremely grateful to the owners and staff of Villa Gangananda for a truly wonderful experience during our last days in Sri Lanka.
